Hello, I am Stanley Okafor BACP registered psychotherapist/counsellor and accredited member APT, with over 9 years experience in treating emotional and psychological issues. I divide my time between private practice, forensic setting and the NHS, where I am senior/lead therapist for a large NHS Trust. Am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and accredited/qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT). I have extensive experience of assessing and treating people from variety of backgrounds whose problems range from severe and complex to more easily treatable problems including: Self-esteem, anxiety, depression, historic child hood trauma, abuse, domestic violence victims, addictions, bereavement, self harm, suicidal ideation, personality problems, family and relationship concerns, anger issues. I also facilitate an anger management group within the forensic setting.

I offer individual 1:1 evidence-based psychotherapy by working primarily using the CBT approach but integrating effective aspects of others such as multicultural or interpersonal where necessary. My approach is tailored to accommodate each individuals needs to match their uniqueness. And so to give an opportunity for an efficient therapy process that leads to positive and long lasting outcomes.

In line with the ethical frameworks of the professional bodies I belong to, I provide a confidential, secure, safe, non-judgmental , and unbiased space where we explore and collaboratively work together to understand your own difficulties and concerns. I am friendly, warm, honest, genuine, empathic and I place particular emphasis on the importance of establishing rapport and trust in therapeutic relationships. I will treat you with the utmost respect, kindness and create a comfortable atmosphere for you to be able to open up as much as you want to.

During our first consultation I will carry out a clinical assessment, in the session I will ask you questions with the aim to to explore and determine your problems, goals treatment. But also, during this assessment I will carry out a risk assessment with a clinical judgment whether you are at risk or not and the severity.

I truly understand that sometimes taking that first step requires a lot of boldness, i have been there myself. I also know that for some people they want it fixed right away, but mental health unfortunately could be even far more complex than a physical health issues. Therefore, I believe that therapy is a process, the healing process is a journey in most cases and not a destination. So if you are looking for a quick fix, to be honest I probably wont be the right therapist for you.

I truly believe that mental health plays just as important a role as physical health in helping you lead a fulfilling life. So, it’s time to get your life back on track, don’t hesitate, get in touch today and you will be truly grateful you did.

“Nothing is impossible for those who believe”.
